Eastern Blue Birds return
The Bluebirds returned for Thanks giving, I don’t know why but they keep coming back about every two weeks!

Almost all of my snipe photos include a fence or fence post… yes a road is boring but it’s nice to have a change of Snipe scenery! It was sitting in the middle of the road, I’m amazed that I didn’t run over it while driving past the peat swamps south of Dundalk. Anyhow, here it is, a Snipe on the road lol.
The clouds blew by and I was able to get a few photos of the Lunar Ecipse, missed the return and the blood moon, but it was fun to photograph it anyhow.
This little hummer was so friendly it perched high by me while visiting with my parents on their lovely deck with many flowering Cactus and various annuals. 3 images.
When the Jay family fledges the nest everyone knows it! Sqwaaaaaak! They are a loud bunch, in these photos a fledgling has just left the nest with parents encouraging along the way. My parents country yard makes for a wonderful environment for them with mature trees blended into a meadow.
A Red-headed Woodpecker is a delightful find. With it’s bright red head it is captivating and an exciting bird to add to ones list. This one must have a nest nearby as it has been hanging around for several weeks in the south end of the Beaver Valley in the old growth forest which happens to border onto a quiet road. 5 images.
Walking around the wetlands I found four Monarch’s and a different looking dragon fly, all floating on the breezes. Did you know that Dragon Flies make similar migration journey’s to the Monarchs? Who knew? Makes them a little more fascinating. 3 photos.
All along the narrow winding board walk several Orchids can be found in a very short distance, a must see location for Orchids. 5 images.
Yep, flat out on my belly to get these shots, and a lot of laughs… bug eating carnivorous plants, stuff kids nightmares are made of! 8 images below.
If these aren’t Solitary Sandpipers, let me know and I’ll change it!
Just when I was thinking it would be nice to have a candle in a little lantern on the canoe incase it got too dark on the river, I realized the opportunity to get these bright white birds on a dark background. My favourite look for photographing horses, finally I would have the opportunity with wildlife. While others looked on wonder what the heck I was photographing in the dark, I created these. The wonders of shooting on manual.
Paddling in the evening … I love it
I was so surprised when this big fellow barked at me I almost dropped my camera, it’s a wonder that I got a shot at all because he dove and was gone in a flash!
I haven’t seen much of the Bald Eagles in the valley this summer, so I had thought they had left. I was so happy to go canoeing with my son and find that they are indeed back and raining two chicks again this year. This makes it three years in a row that they have anger to raise two, usually one eats the other if there isn’t enough food …
Two years ago my friend bob, brought me back this awesome Bluebird house from Florida. He has the same one and they love it. So I put up mine with hight expectations … they didn’t even look at it!… two years of moving it around the property and with in 24 hours at this spot, they were all over it! If you don’t have Bluebirds, keep moving the boxes until they prove of the location. This year “we” raised 12 chicks in our yard 🙂
Ever drive down the road with the window rolled down and hear a different bird chirping away? This bright blue fellow was singing up a storm, so of course I stopped and took a photo!
Early morning just after dawn, I was driving along this country road when a doe with twins was slowly crossing the road. This little fawn is watching it’s mom leave, however is in a conundrum because it knows they just came from a safe place. I believe this is how deer get hit, they can’t decide to follow or go back to a place they know is safe. It decided to go with mom. Photo taken through my windshield.
